The latest monthly trade figures suggest foreign trade did not help economic growth in the December quarter.

The data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics shows the trade balance in November is much the same as in October, narrowing marginally by $38 million in seasonally adjusted terms to $1.380 billion.

Neither imports nor exports of goods and services were changed significantly in the month.

Growth in exports would mean more growth in GDP, but because the trade figures suggest exports in the December quarter were about in line with the September quarter, there is no good news for growth in the exports side either.
