Accused Batman theatre gunman James Holmes has reportedly been hospitalised after what law enforcement officials say were 'half-hearted suicide attempts'.
The Denver Post reported on Thursday that James Holmes, 24, had repeatedly slammed his head into the wall, while CBS4 said he had made 'multiple suicide attempts in recent days'.
The development came to light when lawyers for the former neuroscience graduate student asked the judge in the case to postpone a pre-trial hearing set for Thursday because of Holmes' hospitalisation.
No information was released about Holmes' condition due to privacy laws.
Holmes faces a total of 166 counts of murder, attempted murder and other charges related to the July 20 shooting at a midnight premier of the Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises, in Aurora, Colorado, in which 12 people were killed and at least 58 injured.
